Post Title: DEMENTIA FRIENDLY SUPPORT WORKER (Sessional Work Opportunity)
Contract: Sessional
Salary: £15 per hour
Hours of work: 3 hours per week (current hours are on a Friday 10am-1pm). Flexibility required for training. Initial probationary period of 6 months applies.
Holidays: 28 days holiday, plus 5 public holidays, per annum pro rata
Location: Rosyth – but some travel around Fife may be required
Reporting to: General Manager

About us:
Rosyth Community Projects Limited is a registered charity based in Rosyth which delivers the Edible & Tasty Spaces: EATS Rosyth project. We operate a community hub in Rosyth as well as a community garden and orchard. We provide opportunities in the Rosyth community for Growing, Cooking and Sharing to increase the sense of community in the town through volunteering to reduce food waste, encourage growing and a healthier lifestyle through the provision of a hub facility serving community meals twice a week. We are committed to enabling a diverse range of local residents, volunteers and visitors to participate in our resources to learn, share and enjoy with the aim of bringing about personal growth and a greener community.

About the role:
At EATS Rosyth we are passionate about meeting the needs of the whole community. Dementia Friendly meeting Centres are an opportunity for local people affected by Dementia, including unpaid carers and family members to access friendly support. We provide a social space and aim to provide engaging activities everyone can enjoy through consultation with members. Our aim is to help people affected by Dementia adjust to the changes following a diagnosis, and contribute positive outcomes for people with dementia and their families. The successful applicant will be required to undertake training around the ethos of a meeting centre.

Main duties:
Providing individual support with activities
Supervising the execution of planned activities
Helping to create a stimulating and warm atmosphere by encouraging and enabling members to participate
Routine meetings with the General Manager and volunteers
Taking care of related administrative activities
Contributing to evaluation of support offered

Person Specification
Essential requirements:
Experience of working with people living with dementia and a strong person centred approach.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience of working in a group setting and the ability to stimulate group members to engage whilst respecting their right to choose.
Desirable requirements:
Experience of engaging with people in the early stage of dementia, understanding common challenges and concerns.
Key attributes:
Demonstrate warmth, empathy and patience and respect for all members.
